Conventional remediation requires DSV or rig mobilisation for subsea intervention, at significant cost and with long lead times that extend deferred production losses.
Why It Happens
Full-bore blockages in unpiggable systems eliminate the option of pigging for removal, and conventional coiled tubing units cannot access systems with multiple tight bends or without direct vertical access. Chemical injection through umbilicals may be ineffective if communication across the blockage is lost. This leaves operators with few options beyond expensive subsea intervention.
