Temporary Fire Protection Cover and Foam Testing

Overview

Temporary Fire Protection Cover and Foam Testing is Paradigm’s rapid support service when a deluge system is impaired, out of action, or when extra protection is needed during remediation work. We help you maintain compliance and operational continuity by providing a practical temporary fire cover solution, such as ground monitor installation, plus foam testing support.

Our teams also assist with foam system checks, including verifying proportioning accuracy and confirming foam solution conformity using dedicated test equipment. The goal is simple: keep the asset protected while permanent systems are repaired, cleaned, overhauled, or re-tested.

Applications

This service is typically used when firewater or foam systems cannot provide full coverage for a period of time, or when a project creates a temporary increase in fire risk.

Common scenarios include:

  • During deluge remediation or replacement work when sections of the system must be isolated. We provide short or long term equipment and services so protection can remain in place while work continues.

  • After inspection findings that require immediate corrective action, for example nozzle or pipework replacement, hydro jetting, or impairment management. Temporary fire cover allows planned maintenance without leaving critical areas exposed.

  • Foam system compliance checks where you need to confirm the proportioning system is delivering the correct mix and that the foam solution meets expectations. Paradigm personnel support proportioning accuracy checks and field verification using a dedicated foam testing kit.

  • Offshore and onshore oil and gas workflows where hot work, shutdown activities, or equipment changeouts require temporary controls and documented assurance

It is also a practical add-on to a wider integrity program that includes inspection, cleaning, dry testing, wet testing, and remediation, so you always have a safe path forward even when permanent systems are temporarily impaired.

Benefits

Maintains protection during impairment
You avoid operating with an unmanaged gap in coverage while deluge or foam systems are being repaired or upgraded. This supports compliance and reduces exposure during maintenance windows.

Rapid, practical temporary fire cover options
Ground monitor solutions can be deployed as part of deluge remediation support, helping maintain continuity until the primary system is restored.

Known flow capability using dedicated monitor packages
The Temporary Fire Monitor Package includes 4 monitors plus 8 lengths of fire hose, connects to hydrant points, and each monitor is rated up to 1900 L/min with a maximum safe operating pressure of 10 bar. This gives a clear, defensible temporary capability.

Foam proportioning accuracy checks with purpose-built kit
The foam testing kit is designed for field testing of foam systems, including quantitative checks of foam quality and proportioning accuracy, plus basic foam concentrate checks.

Reduces costly rework and repeat visits
By validating temporary cover and foam system performance in one mobilization, you shorten the path to reinstatement and reduce the chance of later test failures delaying start-up or return to service.

FAQ

When do we need temporary fire protection cover?

You typically need it when a deluge system is out of action, partially impaired, or when additional fire protection is required during remediation or maintenance. Paradigm can provide short or long term equipment and services to maintain compliance and continuity.

It can include ground monitor installation and supporting equipment configured to suit the hazard area and available hydrant connections. Paradigm can supply packaged equipment and the personnel to deploy it as part of deluge remediation services.

The package is designed to connect to fire hydrant points and includes 4 potable oscillating monitors and 8 lengths of fire hose. Each monitor is rated up to 1900 L/min and up to 10 bar safe operating pressure.

Foam testing helps confirm foam quality and whether the proportioning system is mixing accurately. Paradigm’s foam testing kit supports quantitative checks and basic foam concentrate checks as part of routine maintenance and compliance verification.

Yes. Temporary cover is often used alongside inspection, cleaning, remediation, and performance testing so you can keep the asset protected while permanent systems are restored and verified.

About Paradigm Fire Protection Services

Paradigm Fire Protection Service offers performance based deluge testing technologies and remediation services.
Save cost, reduce operational disruption and increase asset lifespan with Paradigm Dry Deluge Testing: The only verified dry deluge test in the world Dry-Flo® testing involves flowing low-pressure, dried air into the deluge system. At low pressures air replicates the flow of water exactly, enabling us to take readings throughout the deluge system to prove compliance. Our software package processes this information to give live data in both a graphical and numerical format so the operator can quickly identify whether a system is compliant. If this isn’t the case the software can immediately show the operator where the issue is within the system, allowing our technicians to inspect and remediate as necessary. Dry-Flo® has been qualified in accordance with DNV-DSS-401, Technology Management /1/ and DNV GL considers it qualified for its intended use following DNV RP-A203 /2/ and is currently undergoing Bureau Veritas and Lloyds Register certification procedures.
