Ultraline®
The Paradigm UltraLine® is a flexible, lightweight, low torque and low friction full composite wireline cable. It is based on high strength fibre and a high temperature resistant resin matrix with a polymer jacket.
Designed for wireline intervention in long, highly deviated and horizontal wells, the UltraLine® offers surface communication via Paradigm’s real-time 2-way communication with downhole ParaComm® telemetry tools.
Applications
- Pump-down perforating of unconventional well
- Long length perforating gun system

FAQ
How can operators improve wireline performance in long, highly deviated, and horizontal wells?
UltraLine® is a high-strength, lightweight, flexible, and low-friction full composite wireline cable. It is designed for long, highly deviated, and horizontal wells, providing superior operational efficiency, reduced friction, and surface communication via real-time 2-way ParaComm® telemetry with downhole tools.
What type of wireline cable is best suited for extended reach wells and challenging well trajectories?
UltraLine® is ideal for:
- Extended reach well interventions
- Tortuous well trajectories
- Pump-down perforating
- Conveying large toolstrings
- Limited footprint sites
How can operators increase pulling capacity and reduce the risk of stuck toolstrings during wireline operations?
Due to the cable’s strength, weight and low-friction it is possible to run larger toolstrings saving the number of cumulative runs in a given operation. Its construction also means that it can be utilised in wells where traditional wirelines are replaced for coiled tubing due to a lack of pulling capacity.
Ultraline enables higher overpull at the cable head, reducing the risk of getting stuck as well as utilising a dual-pack off, avoiding the use of grease injection for pressure control.
What technology can reduce drag, eliminate corrosion risk, and enable real-time telemetry in wireline operations?
UltraLine® offers several key features including:
- ParaComm® real-time 2-way telemetry
- Smooth, low-friction jacket for reduced drag
- No armor stranding or corrosion risk
- Simple dual pack-off with no grease injection
- High strength-to-weight ratio for extended reach operations
What are the technical capabilities of a composite wireline cable designed for extended reach and high-pressure environments?
- Cable outer diameter: 0.25” (6.35 mm)
- Maximum working load: 4,134 lbs (1,875 kg)
- Breaking strength: 8,269 lbs (3,750 kg)
- Maximum length: up to 40,000 ft (12,200 m)
- Temperature rating: -40 to +300°F (-40 to +150°C)
- Pressure rating: up to 10,000 psi (69 MPa)
