Slick-E-Line® System

Slick-E-Line®

Paradigm’s Slick-E-Line® system combines the versatility and efficiency of slickline with the real-time data capabilities of electric line. Leveraging decades of experience, the ”game-changing” Slick-E-Line® technology is bridging the gap between cased-hole electric line and slickline services and supports all parties with immediate decision making for your well intervention challenges.

The Slick-E-Line® Cable comprises a proprietary polymeric coating and a high- strength alloy slickline. The Slick-E-Line® system consists of a close-coupled antenna section that communicates with the Slick-E-Line® cable and downhole ParaComm™ telemetry tools that interface with 3rd party mechanical, perforating or logging service.

Slick-E-Line® System

Leveraging decades of experience, the cutting-edge Slick-E-Line® technology is bridging the gap between cased-hole electric line and slickline services and supports all parties with immediate decision making for your well intervention challenges.

Smooth precision Coated Cable

  • The proprietary insulated polymer coating prevents interference or signal loss and is nonabrasive to downhole tubulars and high-end completions
  • Cable length markings on every 1 m (3.3 ft)

Bi-directional Communication

  • Reliable bi-directional telemetry system is independent of the well construction and operates in gas, corroded, scaled, epoxy coated and fiberglass environments
  • Automatic integration of data recording in depth and time domain by Paralog software
  • High resolution memory data is recorded for all sensors
  • Real-time 3 axis accelerometer for tool movement and inclination
  • Slick-E-Line® system for real-time CCL, GR correlation,Production Logging, Gyro or any 3rd party service

Versatile Operations

  • Same mechanical strength and ability to perform all conventional slickline services
  • Certified equipment for operations in hazardous zone
  • Reduced deck footprint with a single small winch unit for 80% of cased hole operations
  • Reduced costs for stuffing box pressure control equipment, without a grease injection system

Lowest friction

  • Low friction results in lower surface line tension (up to 30%) in high deviated, deep or high tension wells
  • Smooth coating provides extremely low abrasion and low wear on epoxy coated
and (fiberglass) tubulars

Bi-directional Communication

  • Real-time data and depth control, Eyes and Ears, for
  • Reduced HSE exposure – minimize risks by reducing the number of personnel, rig ups, and lifts
  • Improved operational efficiency and depth positioning by real-time communication to downhole tools
  • Real-time e-line depth accuracy on slickline
  • Elimination of slipring and conventional MeasureHeads

Versatile Operations

  • Versatile operations, using single drum and pressure control equipment for mechanical, logging and perforating operations
  • Highest level of operational safety by minimized personnel requirements, less crew change overs and less tool handling during rig up/down operations.
  • Simplified logistics and handling of fewer lifts

FAQ

What is the Slick-E-Line® System and what makes it unique?

The Slick-E-Line® System combines conventional slickline operations with real-time bi-directional telemetry, providing live downhole data via the proprietary Slick-E-Line® Cable. This enables faster, safer, and more informed well intervention operations using a single crew and rig-up.

The system covers a wide range of tasks, including mechanical slickline operations, perforating, plug setting, tubing punching, dump bailing, production logging, fluid sampling, well integrity monitoring, and pipe cutting/recovery.

Data is transmitted via the ParaComm® telemetry system through the Slick-E-Line® Cable. The surface system, including the ParaSheave™, ParaComm® Antenna, and Data Processing Panel, communicates with the downhole ParaComm® Cable Head, Communications Head (PCH), and Power Processing Unit (PPU) to provide live measurements of depth, tension, speed, pressure, temperature, CCL, and acceleration.

By providing live telemetry, operations such as drift runs, perforating, tubing punches, and well integrity assessments can be performed simultaneously and accurately, reducing the need for multiple runs and minimizing rig-up time, footprint, and overall operational duration.

ParaOffice™ is Paradigm’s proprietary software for the Slick-E-Line® System. It enables real-time data acquisition, plotting, and correlation, and allows operators to control multi-finger calipers, bailers, casing punches, perforation tools, and electromechanical actuators directly from the surface with an intuitive interface.
