Overview
Explosive operations in live wells perforating, severance, or string shots carry inherent depth accuracy and safety risks.
Without real-time downhole feedback, operators rely on memory tools or surface measurements that may be inaccurate, increasing the risk of misfires, incorrect depth detonation, and associated well control incidents.
Why It Happens
Conventional slickline explosive services lack real-time communication between the surface and the downhole firing head. Operators cannot verify exact tool depth against live well markers in real time, cannot confirm initiation, and cannot monitor downhole conditions (tension, vibration) during the run. This absence of real-time data increases NPT risk and demands conservative operating windows that can constrain operational efficiency.
How It Can Be Fixed
Conduct explosive operations using Paradigm’s Slick-E-Line® system with integrated real-time CCL, downhole tension, and vibration sensor data. The ParaComm™ telemetry system provides continuous real-time correlation, inbuilt hardware safety switches, and software processing controls that verify depth, confirm initiation, and minimise risk throughout the operation.
Why Paradigm
Paradigm’s Slick-E-Line® platform uniquely combines conventional slickline cost-efficiency with electric line’s real-time data capability for explosive services. Its RF safe firing systems, memory electronic firing heads, and real-time operations using Slick-E-Line® provide the safety assurance and depth accuracy required for explosive work in live wells — all within a smaller equipment footprint and at lower operating cost than full electric line mobilisation.
