E90 Coiled Tubing Downline System
Paradigm’s all-electric E90 Coiled Tubing Downline System is designed for efficient deployment and retrieval of coiled tubing from multi-service vessels and offshore facilities.
Featuring a compact footprint and full redundancy, this system comprises a matching pair of reel skids that can be operated simultaneously or independently.
Based on Paradigm’s e-Winch® system, the drive system uses the latest design in compact high-power inverters and permanent magnet motors, enabling precise and smooth control of the high-torque electric motor.
Each skid is equipped with an all-electric liquid-cooled drive system, planetary gearbox, and an internal spring applied, electric released, multi-disk brake, ensuring precise control and reliable performance. The integrated level-wind sheave is adaptable to various tubing sizes.
With optimized dimensions for efficient transport, the skids can be transported in a single-lift configuration whilst forklift pockets and a twist lock interface with ISO corners allow for efficient handling and installation.

FAQ
Will it fit and integrate on my vessel without a major deck refit?
Deck space and lift capacity are usually the binding constraint on a multiservice vessel, so this is the first question. The E90 is a compact, single-lift “plug & play” skid (3.2 × 8.0 × 3.84 m, ~37.5 t gross / 20.5 t tare) that lands via a twist-lock interface with ISO corners and forklift pockets, with D-rings for sea-fastening. It can be lifted on in up to Hs = 3 m, and ships as a matching pair of independent reel skids so you can scale to the deck you have.
Why all-electric instead of a conventional hydraulic system?
Compared with a legacy hydraulic spread, the all-electric drive delivers no hydraulic system losses, no emissions, lower shipping and operating cost, and higher uptime. The liquid-cooled drive uses permanent-magnet motors and high-power inverters (125 kW rated / 100 kW installed drive power) for high torque with precise, software-assisted spooling — while removing the HPU footprint, leak risk, and ESG exposure that hydraulics carry.
What is the operating envelope — pull force, length, and pressure?
The reel holds up to 2,400 m of 2-3/8″ or 2,600 m of 2″ coiled tubing. Maximum pull force is 44,000 lb (inner layer) / 35,200 lb (outer layer), with pipe speed up to 40 m/min and a 15,000 psi (1,034 bar) working pressure on seawater service via a Grayloc C25 flow-iron connection. This frames which riserless deepwater and subsea pipeline jobs the system is rated for.
What power supply does it need, and can it run off our existing setup?
The E90 runs on 380–480 V, 50–60 Hz, 3-phase power from either the grid or a generator set. Crucially, it supports reduced-power operation across a 32 A to 180 A range, so it can adapt to available capacity rather than forcing a power upgrade. A separate 230 V / 16 A standstill-heating and control supply keeps the system ready between runs.
Is it certified for offshore lifting and rated for my environment?
The system is built to DNVGL-ST-E273 (offshore lifting, Class R30) and complies with the EU Machinery (2006/42/EC), Low Voltage (2014/35/EU), and EMC (2014/30/EU) directives. Static brake load is rated at 1.5× maximum pull force (per DNVGL-RP-0232), with IP56 enclosures, CX-class corrosion protection, and an operating range of −20 to +50 °C within defined transit and operational vessel-motion limits.
