e-Winch®
Breakthrough in operational safety, performance and reduced environmental impact
Overview
Paradigm’s all electric e-Winch® technology is built upon the extensive smart conveyance product range and delivers the much-needed breakthrough in operational safety, performance and reduced environmental impact demanded in accordance with today’s low-carbon operations.
Paradigm’s e-Winch® is more than a simple electric winch, it is in essence a lifestyle change that allows you to do more with less.
The e-Winch® enables operational teams to perform flawless execution time and again, it enables dramatic reductions in servicing maintenance and fuel costs, yet it accomplishes this whilst emitting less CO2 and whilst opening the door to fully digitizing and automating wellsite operations.
Being modular by design, and through maximizing component commonality, the e-Winch® is changing the landscape of the Well Intervention industry, with simplicity, reliability and efficiency that is just unachievable with conventional diesel-hydraulic systems or with hybrid electric-hydraulic systems.
The modular concept extends into the software functionality of the e-Winch®, and the wide range of software features on the platform gives flexibility and adaptability to the service company.
The winch software, ParaWinch™ affords a high degree of safety and functionality by combining automated control with operationally defined parameters, preventing overpulls, unintentional pull-offs at surface, or other unsafe situations. The software can be configured for basic manual control or for more advanced autonomous control depending on the operational application.
The suite of software features covers typical cased hole and open hole needs as well as slickline operations, ensuring a consistent look and feel throughout a winch fleet with the obvious benefits for operational personnel.
Currently the e-Winch® product range includes a variety of single and double drum models covering slickline, cased hole and open hole operations.
Extending the portfolio beyond Well Intervention, e-Winch® technology is also applied to subsea applications with the E90 Coiled Tubing Downline System.

FAQ
How can well intervention teams improve operational safety and reduce human error when operating winches?
The e-Winch® significantly reduces operational risk by combining a fully electric direct-drive system with advanced control software. Automated safety parameters prevent overpulls, unintentional pull-offs at surface, and other unsafe operating conditions. Instant torque response and fast stopping capability further reduce reliance on human reaction time and eliminate fatigue-related incidents, helping deliver repeatable, safer operations.
What operational problems does the e-Winch® solve for well intervention teams?
The e-Winch® addresses common well intervention challenges such as inconsistent speed control, high maintenance downtime, wire breakage, and excessive fuel consumption. Its precise electric motor control delivers stable ultra-low speeds, fast acceleration for jarring, and constant tension or speed over the entire well, resulting in improved logging quality, fewer non-productive events, and higher uptime.
How can operators reduce maintenance requirements and operating costs associated with conventional diesel-hydraulic winches?
By eliminating diesel engines and hydraulic systems, the e-Winch® removes the need for fuel filters, oil changes, belts, exhaust systems, and pneumatic components. This results in near-zero routine maintenance and dramatic reductions in direct running costs. When powered from the grid, operators can achieve up to 65% fuel savings and significantly lower lifecycle costs compared to diesel-hydraulic winches.
How does the e-Winch® support low-carbon and environmentally responsible operations?
The e-Winch® produces zero direct exhaust emissions and operates silently, making it ideal for low-carbon, urban, offshore, and indoor applications. Over its lifecycle, the system delivers substantial CO₂ reduction compared to diesel alternatives, while energy recovery during run-in-hole and deceleration further improves overall efficiency and environmental performance.
What type of winch system can adapt to multiple well intervention applications and future automation upgrades?
The e-Winch® is modular by design, with single and double drum configurations covering slickline, cased hole, and open hole operations. The ParaWinch™ software platform is equally modular, allowing operation from basic manual control to advanced autonomous modes. This flexibility enables easy adaptation to different well profiles, service models, and future digital or automation upgrades — including subsea applications such as the E90 Coiled Tubing Downline System.
